The week started off well for the 2016 Swiss vice-champion. Hicham Mazou stayed in the top 5 during the first days of free practice sessions despite a difficult track. Indeed, the circuit of Oviedo is very demanding with its chicanes and bumps, which quickly use the equipment of the karts.

In spite of good results obtained during free practice sessions, the Vaudois qualified in the 31st position as a result of a strategic error on his part. During the four qualifying rounds, Hicham Mazou obtained the 7 th, 10th, 12th and 8th positions, which allowed the Swiss to qualify for the final with a 20th position.

Despite the threat of rain, Hicham Mazou took the start with slick tires. After only three laps, the race was interrupted due to heavy showers.

Indeed, as the track became like a skating rink, many participants were involved in accidents and the risk was too great to continue under such conditions. This interruption of the race allowed pilots to put on rain tires. Thirty minutes after the race resumed, Hicham Mazou put slick tires back because the track was dry at 70%. This strategy was beneficial because the 2016 Swiss vice-champion finished in 9th position!

This first top 10 allows Hicham Mazou to take valuable points and now ranks 19th (out of 73 pilots) in the overall standings. Ginox would like to congratulate Hicham Mazou on his performance improvement in recent months.
